Nikko lay in bed listening to the solemn sound of his slow beating heart. Darkness slowly covered his room like a warm, soft blanket but unlike his twin sister he wasn't afraid. Their mother had left the window slightly open letting the warm summer air flow inside the room. The nearly transparent curtains fluttered delicately in the breeze.
